Would it be worth moving the Jedburgh section to the top of the forum listings under the WW2 Events section, or would you all prefer date order?
Yep, date order is both logical and fair, I'll drop Loop down to the bottom when interest has died down, then away to archive in Past Games.
A quick thought re radios.
All radio sets used in-game are set to the same frequency. This way the German operator can hear Allied traffic and vice versa (and the network is also usable side commander to side commander for game control purposes).
This will simulate radio signal interception without pigging about fiddling with radios. The thing is, Jeds/SAS will have to keep it short and or coded so Germans don't know what is going on. Germans don't use codes but their traffic would be largely administrative (bits may well be of use to Allies though esp troup movements/reports of sightings).
If, say, Jeds were tasked to transmit a message to London at 2000hrs then at least one commander will hear it and know an objective has been achieved.
By the way, Dave B has a full German radio operator's station with headphones,radio sets, table, chairs and tent. He'll probably have a crank up telescopic aerial by then as well.

That'll probably be waaaay outside the frequency range of pmr's unfortunately. Good for set dressing though.

Of course, the Brits don't have to code it - just keep it short and hope the German radio man misses it! It's another thing for the Germans to do - keep the radio station manned and listening.
Naaa, I didn't mean transmit with it - pukka props for a radio station that's all. (Dave B doesn't know how to use it anyway!)
We can just use codewords on the Brit radio net. Eg, "Custard" means "At objective", that sort of thing. A possibility of the Germans "cracking" the code by making enough captures?

Not sure if this is any better than PMR, but there are a few companies offering radio hire for the film industry. These might work better. They are very anachronistic, but we do need to remain in contact.

That would be an expensive nightmare! We managed with out radios before (last weekend even). Radios in-game may have difficulties communicating - that's part of the realism. I've had comms difficulites in modern games and you just do it the way its always been done - radio relay or runners.
BTW, Jay did mention he can get XTNs to run at 5w instead of 0.5w - but regardless, if the terrain is wrong then power won't help much.

It would be an expensive nightmare HIRING radios that we will also be personally liable for the loss of. Plus how on earth can we wire 'em up with period handsets if we don't have to see if the plug-in sets work?

We already have 0.5w, Jay can set 'em up as 5w and they are mine so we can do what we like with them.
Yes, they can be made to work at 5w.
Downside is that they are then illegal, PMR is only legal up to 0.5W

I'm going to re-write the existing perfunctory background story giving a more fulsome background to our weekend activities and get some purpose and personalisation into it.

What we really need to do is grab the attention of the Germans, who haven't really posted much on the thread. Garrison troops aren't very glamorous, nor are troops monging in the woods for a break. "Aggressive patrolling to crush the French terrorists and their parachutist friends", or something like that, makes it sound more attractive.

Your chaps are most welcome. Are they forum members? If not, a gentle poke to get them to register might help, just so they can read the briefings and kit requirements and be up to speed with it all come game on. They'll also know what they're letting themselves in for! It's going to be hard, dirty, tense but, lots of fun too! Are they planning to go SAS or Jedburgh?
We're opening booking in April, we haven't decided exactly when yet.
The way I'm seeing it, is that if we get some new blood in, we aren't beholden to gadge and his little band of fairies!
